SEO Audit Checklist: What to Focus On
An SEO audit is a health check for your website. It identifies the technical, on-page, and off-page issues that keep you from ranking and shows you where to focus first. Running one regularly is one of the smartest things you can do for your visibility.
Start with technical health. Make sure search engines can crawl and index your pages, your site loads quickly, it works well on mobile, and it uses secure HTTPS. Look for broken links, duplicate content, redirect chains, and pages that return errors.
Next, review your on-page SEO. Every important page should have a unique, descriptive title tag and meta description, a single clear heading, and a logical structure. Content should target the terms your customers actually search and answer their questions thoroughly.
Then assess your content and keywords. Identify pages that are thin, outdated, or competing for the same term. Look for valuable topics you have not covered yet and chances to strengthen internal linking between related pages.
Finally, examine authority and local signals. Check your backlink profile for quality and relevance, and make sure your business information is accurate and consistent across your site, Google Business Profile, and local listings.
The goal of an audit is not to fix everything at once. Prioritize the issues with the biggest impact on rankings and user experience, tackle them in order, and re-audit periodically to keep your site healthy.
